Jack's first time off the Diving Board!!

He did great! First time and he looks like a Pro. Jack's confidence has come a long way this year. He is now jumping off the board and swimming to the side. His stroke's not great but he's very independent. Best 4 year old I know... I'm a proud swimming Mama.

The Lemon

We bought a boat. One of the goals of our little family was to buy a boat so that we could spend some good quality family time together. We loved going out on my Dad's boat in Utah and knew we would like it. We finally had enough saved up in our boat fund to buy a used boat. We found what we thought was a deal. The owner wouldn't let us ride in it but told us that his "boat mechanic" had recently replaced everything and said that it ran like a champ. We took him for his word even though he had never registered the boat or the trailor... Soon after getting it home we realized that the whole floor had rotted through and would need to be replaced. Adam spent weeks replacing the floor, puttying, apoxying and re carpeting. We took it out for 2 short rides and it worked fine. On our third time out however, it stalled in the middle of the lake at dusk with no other boats in site. We managed to get it restarted and it made it a few yards and this continued over and over until we reached the dock. Adam fixed what he thought to be the problem and we took it out again. This time we took Laura for her first ride. After about 25 minutes the boat died and would not start. Laura and I decided to swim it in. We tied ropes around our waists and swam like crazy. We went a ways and Jack and Charlie decided to get in and help. Jack rode the kneeboard as he "helped" until a nice man felt sorry for us and towed us in. Adam replaced the spark plugs and wires and connectory things and we went out on friday night. Things were going well, I went out on the kneeboard, Adam got up on his first try but in the middle of a turn, the boat sputtered and died... again. This time we were fairly close to shore and a jet ski pulled us in. Now Adam replaced a coil thing and that is supposed to fix the problems but we will probably get teased forever by the youth and church leaders who joke about needing their knot tying and rowing merit badge before they go out in the boat with us. Fun stuff.

Towing the boat- If we were having a strong man contest I would have won, I kept pulling Laura backwards because of the way we were tied to the boat. I guess you could say we wern't equally yoked.
Char Bar was a good sport about all the adventures.

A very common site around our house. Adam's rear end poking out of the boat engine...

Camping Trips

Adam took Jack on their first Father Son camping trip and then the next week they both went to the Branch camp out. They both had lots of fun. The boys had
a strong man competition by seeing who could do pullups and cross the monkey bars. Adam won! He's so strong and manly... Jack made a pine cone collection and Adam sharpened a stick for him but after getting a few
dirty looks from other parents, he decided we should probably not give our four year old sharp sticks (at least in front of other kids with less "cool" parents.) One of the girls added the flowers to the collection...
Fluffy got to go to the park with us the other day, he really enjoys getting out in nature.

Jack had his last day of pre-school and celebrated by a party at the soccer park.

I never knew he was so good at soccer.

Our cute family (don't look at the bending pole, it looked like that before we got on) :)
