Job scare

Laura is here!! We went to the lake and took her shopping so she could see a new city. It's going to be fun- she brought her turtle Fluffy and Jack is in heaven. He loves to feed Fluffy and Fluffy likes to follow his fingers around and sometimes he falls back on his back and does the backstroke. It's an adjustment to have another person in our house (no more walking around in our underwear.. not that we would hmmm...) Adam got the new Star Wars lego game and now Jack is obsessed with it. we've had to limit him to a half hour a day and we usually get a fit when we turn it off. Any suggestions?? I'm working like crazy and they are still trying to get me an assistant but sometimes with as much work as I have I slip and write the wrong date on a paper or something. My boss asked me to come in and talk to him on Friday and I got all nervous thinking that I might get fired because of my "errors." I guess with my job history and Adam's recent job history, I don't trust employers all that much- especially in this econnomy and especially in this city. But it turns out that instead of getting fired I was getting a raise- go figure...

Funny how life is sometimes, if you think things are fine, something just might be going wrong right under your nose, but if things are not going your way, you just might be doing O.K.

Becky's second TV appearance...

This was my interview for those of you who do not get our local cable channel, which is probably everyone reading this. It's about dementia and is kind of long so prbably my mom will be the only one who watches the whole thing. :)

Happy Love Day

Happy Valentines Day!!

Adam gave a talk this morning and mentioned how I love holidays. I do. I think I got it from my Mom or maybe I just never grew up past 4th grade. On St. Patricks day, I like to dye all our breakfast foods green, and on Valentines Day, Red. I start thinking about holidays weeks in advance so that I can keep an eye out for deals on surprises and fun stuff. We have family traditions that I treasure and try to continue even when we are far from home. This year, we couldn't wait so we had dinner the night before, opened gifts and spent the night playing Jack's or (I mean Daddy's) Star Wars Legos game and watching the new Celtic Women DVD.

Today, we had a yummy crab dinner. It wasn't Joes Crab Shack, but it was the next best thing... I love how our kids enjoy food. We went out Friday night with a P.T. we are "woeing" and Jack ordered steak and brocoli- and they brought it to him- a kids meal with steak and brocoli. Fun crazy kids- Charlie was loving the Crabby and especially the dipping it in the butter part. Adam gave a great talk today on the Love of God and I gave a lesson about Where your treasure is there shall your heart be also. What a great dinner and a great day. Happy love day.

Little Sister

Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there. ~Amy Li

I am so excited that my little sister Laura is coming to live and work with me. She is going to be our new Social Worker and everyone is so excited for her to get here. Every day at least 4 peopel ask me, "When is your sister coming?" We've got her a new room with new furniture and the picture above is a Welcome Wagon that i left on her dresser to surprise her when she gets here. (unless I guess if she reads this...) Surprise! :)

A sister is a little bit of childhood that can never be lost. ~Marion C. Garretty
Laura is 4 years younger than me. We grew up together and I remember we had an occassional tiff or wrestling match. I was closer in age to Robby and I remember we would both try and get Laura on our side because with three kids, anyone plus Laura made a majority. I like to think I won her to my side most of the time. We swam a lot. I started when I was 8 or 9 and Laura started about the same time which means she would have been like 5. We spent lots of hours in the pool. When she was 15, I snuck her onto my relay team and then when she was in High School I got to be her coach for a year.
*Laura is a great swimmer. She has endurance like noone I know! Her arms just keep going and going... even if she hasn't swam for a while, she can still do 500 yards in just a few minutes. We both were lifeguards for years and spent alot of time working for the JCC. Last year she did a triathlon and trained so hard. She did great and she never gave up even when her life got complicated.

* Laura is smart- She learned to read when she was 2! Definately gifted and talented. She won lots of awards for poetry in Elementary school. I will never forget "The gutter hole." While she is out here, she's going to work on her Masters degree. Then all 3 of us siblings will be Masters- as Robby says.

*She is a great aunt. The boys both love her and I feel like she helped raise Jack while I was in Utah on assignment and she tended him and took him to her preschool. She slept in our guest room when she helped us move here. Yes she offered to drive 3000 miles mostly on her own to help us move. Jack still calls the spare room Laura's room and soon it will be again!

** Laura is kind. She is a great friend and would do anything for anybody. She is fun and a great listener. She always makes me laugh and is always up for a fun adventure.

There is no better friend than a sister. And there is no better sister than you.
I Love you and I'm counting the days until you get here... 8 I think...
