As a former UTA employee and believers (although not usually users) of public transportation, we decided to test out the new Front Runner train that goes from Ogden to Salt Lake. We drove up and met it at the Layton stop because we heard it had less walking for a 2-year old and pregnant lady :) We rode it to Salt Lake and ate dinner at the Gateway. They were nice trains, double deckers with plenty of seating room and some even had tables and bathrooms. We were on our way back at about 9:00 when the train seemed to be creeping along extremely slowly. We were getting passed by mini-vans on the highway... When we finally arrived at the west bountiful station (and someone finally noticed that I looked pregnant and exhausted holding Jack and lent me their seat, they wouldn't open the doors. We waited about 10 minutes and then they said there had been an interuption in service and they would be sending us back to salt lake where they would provide buses to get back up to farmington. We all groaned and we offered to get out and we could call my parents to come pick us up but they said the station was being evacuated. Well long story short, they decided to let the other train go on ahead but were going to send ours back to SLC and they were all hush hush about letting the other one go because they didn't want it to get any more crowded- weird. They eventually let us get off and call my parents for a ride home. On the news later that night we found out there had been a refinery explosion right near the tracks just before we got there. Good thing noone got hurt...
